ADA Services

METRO ADA

METRO ADA is a service that is legally mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act, passed in 1990. All transit systems supply this service to persons with qualifying disabilities who are unable to use the traditional (METRO Direct) service. This need can can be due to environmental factors (no curb cuts, sidewalks, poor lighting, etc.) or due to their specific disability. It is available at the same times as the METRO line service, with the pick-up location and destination no further than 3/4 of a mile from a line service route.

Reasonable Modifications

METRO RTA makes reasonable modifications to its policies, practices, and procedures when the modifications are necessary to prevent discrimination on the basis of disability, subject to limitations listed below.

METRO RTA may deny a request for a reasonable modification on one or more of the following grounds:

  • Granting the request would fundamentally alter the nature of METRO RTA services, programs, or activities;
  • Granting the request would create a direct threat to health or safety;
  • Without the requested modification, the individual with a disability is able to fully use the entity’s services, programs, or activities for their intended purpose; or,
  • Granting the request would result in an undue financial or administrative burden to METRO RTA.
