Summit County Stand Down is Sept. 13!

Ride METRO route #18 free to and from the 2011 Summit County Stand Down, Tuesday, Sept. 7. Stand Down takes place at the Firestone VFW Post 3383 at 690 W. Waterloo Rd. in Akron. The event is runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Stand Down attendees may ride free on the #18 to and from the event. Please note: veterans must bring identification such as dog tags, military discharge papers or a V.A. ID card.

Stand Downs are community based intervention programs designed to help homeless veterans survive life on the streets. At Stand Downs, veterans receive food, clothing, medical and mental health assistance, job counseling and an opportunity to meet and bond with other veterans. Stand Downs are held across the country and are recognized as the most valuable outreach tool to help homeless veterans in America.
