Today, METRO joins fellow American Public Transportation Association (APTA) members and industry partners to collectively fight to #SavePublicTransit with a day of mobilization and engagement.

Organized by APTA, #SavePublicTransit Day will shine the light on the dire financial crisis facing the public transportation industry and urge elected officials to take immediate action.

It is critical that Congress move forward and provide emergency funding for public transit in the lame duck session before Congress recesses for the holiday. The industry is calling on Congress and the Administration to provide at least $32 billion in emergency funding to ensure that public transit agencies can survive and help our communities and nation recover from the economic fallout of the pandemic.

I urge you to consider the vital role public transportation plays in our community. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the heroes on METRO’s team have provided our services, which have been an irreplaceable asset, transporting essential workers to their workplaces and providing life-necessary trips for individuals to obtain medical care and groceries. Please join me in support of #SavePublicTransit today by contacting your elected officials and urging them to provide emergency funding for public transit.  The future of our industry depends on it.

Yours in accessible transportation,

Dawn Distler, METRO CEO
