DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

METRO Regional Transit Authority, a 300+ employee transit authority located in Akron, Ohio is seeking an experienced professional to join our transit management team as the Director of Planning and Development.  This candidate is responsible for evaluating transit services and planning for Metro RTA.  The individual selected for the position will direct planning and development (including rail) services, manage Metro’s leases, 3rd party use, search for grants, respond to requests for proposals, and evaluate and modify existing services.  The candidate will have knowledge of planning principles, railroad operations, engineering and construction, and legal/regulatory environment a must. The candidate also leads the authority’s government affairs efforts. There is a great deal of public contact including with the media. There are three direct reports for this position. Excellent communication skills, an advanced degree and 5 years relevant work experience, or a combination of education and work experience which provides the required skill level to perform the essential functions of the job.
